Antique Jewellery Remodelling
Do you have treasured pieces of jewellery gathering dust because you no longer wear them? Maybe they're no longer fashionable and you just don't know what to do with them. Have you ever considered that they could be transformed into fabulous wearable pieces of jewellery once more?
Brooches are common jewellery items that are no longer worn but these can often be remodelled into a pendant for example, a ring or even a pair of earrings, depending on the style of the original piece.
David welcomes enquiries via phone or email but inevitably he must see the jewellery for himself before making any decisions or recommendations. Clients are welcome to send him any pieces for appraisal via registered or express post as long as an express post satchel is included for return postage.* Please contact David first to let him know that you're sending him something.
N.B. Please ensure you post your item via registered or express post with 'signed for'.
Take a look at some examples of David's work in antique jewellery remodelling...
Remodelled vintage ring: Many vintage rings have quite high settings which aren't very practical for modern daily wear so David adjusted the height of this ring and retipped some of the claws to secure the stones. In addition, the client had a couple of old gold rings that she wasn't wearing so she had the gold reused from these unwanted rings to make a thicker shank for the ring she wanted to remodel. Thanks to the very happy client for sending in these photos (which we forgot to take!).
Georgian Brooch: When David removed the bar and pin from the back of this gold, turquoise and diamond brooch it turned out to have been made originally as a ring almost 200 years ago. Dave replaced the grotty looking stone that was allegedly a diamond with a beautiful old cut diamond in keeping with the period of the piece. Once he'd fitted a gold shank, this gorgeous ring was restored to its former glory.
