Art Deco Enamel Pearl & Garnet Brooch c.1925
Art Deco (1920s) solid gold brooch with a handpainted enamel picture panel - in perfect condition - of what we think is an Egyptian scene.
The ostrich is set with a natural cabochon garnet and natural pearls.
Unmarked but testing as being at least 14ct gold with jewellers acids. In very good condition - no marks or chips in the enamel. Some remains of earlier plating on top of the gold showing.
Measures 5cm x 2 cm approx. Total weight is 7.7g.
We love this brooch because of the hours of exquisite workmanship that went into making it and also because it typifies an era which was heavily influenced by Egyptian themes - or 'Tutmania' - following the discovery in 1922 of Tutenkahmun's tomb.
