Vintage Style Old Cut Diamond Ring
SOLD1.10ct total weight of 150 year old, old cut diamonds remounted in a handmade 18ct white gold ring.
Approx 1.10ct total weight of 150 year old sparkling white old cut diamonds remounted by David in a vintage style, handmade 18ct white gold ring.
The edges of the mount are milgrained for a vintage Art Deco feel. Milgrain is the beading effect which has become very popular now with the resurgence of interest in antique jewellery and has been used for example in the McCartney wedding rings by Neil Lane.
One way of avoiding conflict or blood diamonds is to reuse ones from unwanted antique jewellery so, not only is it eco friendly, it's a way of ensuring you don't inadvertently support modern day corrupt, diamond producing regimes of which there so many - despite the Kimberley Process.
Old cut diamonds are slightly different from modern day brilliant cuts, being deeper, not completely round and with a more glassy appearance. They arguably have more fire than modern day brilliant cuts.
Central diamond is approximately 75 points (0.75ct) and has a small natural black mark to one side which did not show up in the photos and is reflected in the asking price. The ring is currently a Australian/UK size O (US size 7) but could easily be resized.
