Does it come with a guarantee?
We do guarantee that the jewellery is genuine and made of the materials described. Under Australian law, you are entitled to a full refund if this is not the case.
We do not sell pieces of poor quality - they are handmade and usually much better quality and longer lasting than many modern pieces you will find in the shops. As most of what we sell is over 100 years old, we certainly check them over before we list them for sale. However, without the benefit of clairvoyancy, it would be impossible to offer a guarantee on such old jewelley. Here's why:
- We don't know regularly it will be worn or how well it will be looked after. Rings particularly can be subjected to a lot of unintentional abuse, particularly if they are being worn every day and whilst doing manual tasks.
- It was not made by David and we may not be able to tell how well it was made throughout without breaking it apart and putting it back together again.
You can liken antique jewellery to a vintage car: You need to take great care of it because, even though the bodywork might be great, bits may well drop off it with increased use. Like a lot of modern pieces, many antique pieces, such as dress rings, would have originally been made for special occasions and may not withstand everyday wear in the 21st century.
In the unlikely event of anything dropping off, David can offer customer friendly rates to repair it.
